Sundari Sacred Arts - Kalarippayattu
Sundari Sacred Arts - Yukiko Amaya's yoga, sacred dance & holistic healing

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE CENTERED AND RADIANT IN YOUR LIFE?

BRING STRENGTH, VITALITY AND GROUNDING INTO YOUR BEING?

Kalarippayattu is an ancient, Indian martial art from the Southern region of Kerala that has cross pollinated over the centuries with yoga and Ayurveda, as well as Kathakali, a traditional dance theater. The practice begins with learning fluid and powerful forms, often taken from observation of animal energies, in choreographed sequence. This prepares the practitioner in body and mind to be “present in absence”, meaning complete readiness for anything that arises in the moment.

THIS IS A POWERFUL TOOL FOR MODERN LIFE.

It can be a powerful tool for modern life; to remain focused, relaxed and aware within the cacophony of the everyday field. Kalarippayattu also fine tunes the senses to becoming more aware of what is happening around us. Some have called this practice - "When the body becomes all eyes". It is also an incomparable training for actors and artists requiring physical and mental awareness, presence and fluidity within their craft.

The techniques taught are some of the fundamentals of kalari: lohas (warm up exercises), leg swings, meippayattu forms, Northern salutation form, Southern salutation form, long stick Northern style.
